[U.S. Immigrant Success Stories]


The Morning Seminar

The topic was U.S. immigrant success stories.

Success means to do hard work.
3. Did you learn anything new from the seminar?
I learned about Development of yogurt and family business of Conga Latin Food restaurant
4. What was the most interesting idea or concept that you learned today?
The further details about the restaurant were interesting.
5. How will you use this information in the future?
If I will learn about immigrant, I think that I want to learn a new idea based on this information.

The Afternoon Project

1. What was the title of the afternoon project?
The title was Interview at Conga Latin Food restaurant.
2. Where did the afternoon project take place?
The place was Conga.
3. What was the purpose of the afternoon project?
The purpose was Interview.
4. Who did you meet at the project location?
We met one family that are working Conga Food restaurant.
5. What did you learn from the project?
My question: What do you think are the differences between food cultures in El Salvador and the U.S.?
Answer: El Salvador has more flavor of food such as spice, mango and so on. On the other hand, the U.S has all kind food such as hamburger and so on that is simple.
6. What was the best part or most interesting aspect of the project?
The best part was to be able to eat Conga Food.
7. How will you apply what you learned during the project in the future?
If I will find a restaurant such as Conga food, I will select it.

The topic was Maples and Pecans.
2. What were the main ideas/terms/definitions of the seminar?
The terms were Urban gardens, community gardens, Food Desert.
3. Did you learn anything new from the seminar?
I learned about Features of Maple and Pecan tree.
4. What was the most interesting idea or concept that you learned today?
The most interesting idea was Urban gardens at UTC.
5. How will you use this information in the future?
If I will find Maple and Pecan tree, I want observe  these features based on today’s information.

The title was UTC Teaching and Learning Garden Project.
2. Where did the afternoon project take place?
The project was UTC Garden.

The purpose was to experience Garden myself.

I met Dr. Jose Barbosa.
5. What did you learn from the project?
I learned about a basic fact of Garden.
6. What was the best part or most interesting aspect of the project?
The best interesting part was to weed.
7. How will you apply what you learned during the project in the future?
Don’t forget Urban Garden even though the world is advancing.

After I will be back Japan, I think that I want to experience Garden again.

Summary Blog Post

What did you like best about the Cross-cultural workshop and why?
  I liked to take part in Lapaz Community Potluck Dinner because I could eat some delicious foods that are from 11 countries. And I was glad that we could get to know Japanese goods that are rice ball and okonomiyaki.

What were you most surprised to learn about?
I was most surprised that I could experience the Garden Project.
